About Junard Parrot
Junard Parrot’s story is one of second chances, perseverance, and continued growth. After returning home, Junard became involved with the Second U Foundation, where he met Hector Guadalupe and found an opportunity to build a career as a personal trainer. Through Second U and the community surrounding him, Junard found support, purpose, and another chance to move forward.
Today, he continues to pursue two of the passions that have become central to his life: literacy and fitness. As an author, his writing reflects on incarceration, adversity, faith, perseverance, and the experiences that have shaped the person he is today.
Junard is also a father and grandfather. He does not present his story as one that is finished. There is always more room for growth, more to learn, and another chapter to write.
From Experience to the Page
Writing has given Junard a way to transform lived experience into something that can be shared with others. Across his books, he explores struggle and resilience without separating the two—the difficult chapters of life alongside the possibility of change.
That idea also speaks directly to It Takes a Village: no life is shaped in isolation. The people who support us, challenge us, teach us, and give us another opportunity can become part of the story we eventually tell.
